tonight's state of ass kissing

OK, I don’t normally watch the State of the Union speech. Is it always such an ass kissing festival? The president walks in, get applause for, what, 3-5 minutes non-stop. Then, he is introduced and gets several more minutes of applause! Then after literally the first sentence, he gets a standing ovation and that continues every few seconds of his speech, sometimes before he even finishes a sentence! I did find it interesting that the camera was always focused on the Repubs, with only an occasional glimpse of the Dems, who were nowhere near as enthusiastic! Considering the divisiveness of many of his statements and the continued exaggerations and lies that is hardly surprising! For a “uniter”, he certainly does not try to reach out to anyone who does not agree with every word that he spouts!
