In discussing the reasons for the Democrats' defeat in the November 2 election, MSNBC host Chris Matthews claimed that Democrats ignored the difficulties facing working-class Americans and had been concerned only with "tort reform and protecting trial lawyers." A look at the words of the Democratic candidates for president and vice president proves otherwise.

This is an amazing quote! I know that the Republicans continually pounded on the "issues" of tort reform and trial lawyers, but the Dems talked about real issues facing real people throughout the campaign. Kerry & Edwards constantly spoke of the plight of the working-class - in fact, that was one of the corner stones of their campaign! The fact that a reporter could say, with a straight face, that they "ignored the difficulties facing working-class Americans" is far more than a irresponsible quote, it is an outright lie! How do they get away with things like this?!
