WASHINGTON – The Pentagon has reneged on its offer to pay a $15,000 bonus to members of the National Guard and Army Reserve who agree to extend their enlistments by six years, according to Sen. Patty Murray (D-Seattle...

A Pentagon spokeswoman, Lt. Col. Ellen Krenke, confirmed the bonuses had been canceled, saying they violated Pentagon policies because they duplicated other programs. She said Guard and Reserve members would be eligible for other bonuses.

Krenke said some soldiers had been paid the re-enlistment bonuses, but she was unsure how many or whether the money would have to be repaid. Murray’s office said that as far as it knew, no active Guard or Reserve members had received the bonuses.

So, basically, all those men and women who offered to risk their lives AGAIN in Iraq for a $15,000 bonus are now screwed. Assuming they're still alive.

Absolutely amazing.

I'll say it again to all of you military men and women out there and your families, you voted Republican because? You won't hear any Republican blogs or many Republican politicians bitching about you getting screwed. Why is that?

Oh yeah, because you're not anything more to them than the backdrop of a press conference.

Bush wants them "dead or alive." And all this time I thought he meant the enemy.

How low can these scumbags go?! I honestly don't know how any military personnelle could possibly vote for these pricks. They screw them on pay, on armor, on health care, they ask the wounded to return pay when they are hospitalized, and now they are lying to their faces about bonuses for risking their lives. This is just sick....
