White House considers help for car makers

WASHINGTON – Under mounting pressure to act, the Bush administration said Friday it was ready to step in and prevent the U.S. auto industry from collapsing after the Senate refused to pass a rescue bill endorsed by the White House and congressional Democrats. The most obvious source of help was the Wall Street bailout fund.

Southern repug senators are blamed for the stall because they are anti-union and anti-Detroit since they have foreign car manufacturers in their states who are not union and who pay their workers far less than the American companies located in Detroit. So, they don't care if American companies fail, as long as their pet companies are ok. I guess it doesn't matter to them what happens to the American economy...
