Considering that the repugs have flat-out stated that all they want to do is delay and obstruct any real reform, the Dems should ignore them and just get things done, as the American people want and that would help our deficit as well as our health care system.

As an example of their obsturctionism:

“Republicans will stay until Valentine’s Day,” said Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, chairman of the Senate Republican Conference. “We know of no more important issue in this country than defeating this legislation.”

They're not even pretending to be negotiating in good faith. They just want to stop the Dems for enacting a popular program.
This is their priority - defeating health care reform and the advantages that will bring to the American public. This is more important to them that anything else, because they know that this is a winning issue for the Dems and if they can stop the Dems from suceeding, it will help the repugs in the 2010 elections. They'll claim that the Dems weren't able to do anything while they were in power, even though the repugs obstructed everything that they tried to accomplish.
