i would think that McCain's anti-immigrant stance would be a little more than "awkward"

Obama, McCain and their awkward Hispanic outreach
---

McCain is respected by many Hispanics for refusing to pander to anti-immigrant sentiment over the years. Yet he is viewed in some Latin quarters as a sequel to the unpopular President Bush, a problem he has with voters at large, too.

Obama's vitality and soaring oratory appeal to Hispanics just as they do to others. Whoops of approval were heard throughout his speech this week to the League of United Latin American Citizens' convention.

---

So, do some Hispanics not understand McCain's anti-immigrant, bush-like policies? And the fact that Obama does well with Hispanics is somehow not working for him?

Hmm...the "liberal media"...

Update from AP:

The poll also showed Obama with a strong lead over McCain among Hispanic voters, a crucial voting bloc that Obama failed to win over during his Democratic party nomination battle with Senator Hillary Clinton.

Obama leads McCain among Hispanics by 62 to 23 percent. He is viewed favorably by more than half of Hispanics, while McCain's rating is below one-quarter.

So, Obama leads McCain among Hispanics 62 to 23 percent and yet they both have issues with hispanics? How does that work?

Damn, i hate our media...
