On the November 4 broadcast of NBC's Nightly News, MSNBC host Chris Matthews claimed that if the November 7 midterm election "breaks bad for the president," the "world press, which is anti-American already, will jump on this and say [President] Bush has lost his control over his own government. "His own government"? Does Matthews think that he is living in a dictatorship? I wouldn't blame him, but we're not supposed to be!

I think he meant to say that a Democratic victory will "look bad for the president [but would greatly enhance America's respect around the world] and [U.S.] world diplomacy [efforts]."
