as always, the Dems are with the people, the repugs are against

Americans want heating assistance to poor and elderly; Republicans leadership doesn't

A little less than a year ago, Republicans in Congress slashed heating assistance to America's poor by $200 million dollars, even though heating costs were up 40 to 70 percent.

Democrats at the time pushed to raised heating assistance for the poor and elderly to $5 billion. The Republican majority, of course, won their battle against America's poor.

But, where did America's voters stand on the issue?

A new poll shows they were with the Democrats and their support for heating assistance for the poor and elderly:

Seventy-four percent of the American public believes that the federal government should provide funding for low-income families and senior citizens to pay for heating, cooling and lighting, according to a new poll released today. The poll was sponsored by The Campaign for Home Energy Assistance and conducted by Earl de Berge of Behavior Research Center. (Newswire)
