WH does not deny bush's illegal activities
W.House does not dispute Bush leak allegation
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Friday chose not to challenge a prosecutor's disclosure that President George W. Bush authorized top official Lewis "Scooter" Libby to disclose intelligence on Iraq in 2003, as Libby alleges.
---
McClellan said the release of the declassified information was very different from what he called the potentially damaging leak of information about Bush's domestic eavesdropping program which aims to track phone calls and e-mails in the United States to suspected al Qaeda contacts abroad."Democrats who refuse to acknowledge that distinction are simply engaging in crass politics," he said.
---
I don't think that there is a single Democrat who doesn't acknowledge that outing a covert CIA agent for a personal vendetta is very, very different from exposing bush's illegal wiretapping activities.
One (the former) hurts our national security, while the other (the latter) was done in an attempt to protect our basic rights from an illegal, prying government.
Very different indeed!

Dems. to Bush: Fess up
The President sacrificed our safety for politics:
"In light of today's shocking revelation, President Bush must fully disclose his participation in the selective leaking of classified information," Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid D-Nev.) said in a statement.
"The American people must know the truth."Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said, "The fact that the president was willing to reveal classified information for political gain and put the interests of his political party ahead of America's security shows that he can no longer be trusted to keep America safe."
