rumsfeld profitting off of fear

Rumsfeld makes $5 million by promoting Bird Flu threat
I still hear conversations about bird flu almost daily. But, I never hear anyone discuss what Rumsfeld and others have gained by promoting the threat. I have read about Rumsfeld's shares in and his being on the board of Gilead Sciences, which invented Tamiflu. I have also read that the Tamiflu sold so far would probably have almost no effect against a mutated form of Bird Flu that could be passed on from human to human.

I did not know until today, however, how much Rumsfeld had made off of promoting Tamiflu and talking about the Bird Flu threat. Now I do:

Donald Rumsfeld has made a killing out of bird flu. The US Defence Secretary has made more than $5m (£2.9m) in capital gains from selling shares in the biotechnology firm that discovered and developed Tamiflu, the drug being bought in massive amounts by Governments to treat a possible human pandemic of the disease. This Independent Online article is about three weeks old. I came to it through an article today in Pakistan's Daily Times.
