another bush failure

Bush Abandons Push for Miers Nomination
WASHINGTON - Under withering attack from conservatives, President Bush abandoned his push to put loyalist Harriet Miers on the Supreme Court and promised a quick replacement Thursday. Democrats accused him of bowing to the "radical right wing of the Republican Party."

So, this time the conservatives made bush fail! Fun to watch them attack their own, but too scary to think of who bush is going to nominate to appease them. Obviously, they won't be happy until there is a rabid, raving, far-far-far-out-of-the-mainstream mad dog nominated. They need their litmus test or else they won't let anyone through.
I still tend to think that this was all a smokescreen - maybe to try to mask Traitorgate.
Of course, he is now going to nominate a lunatic and they will sail through no matter what.
Frightening times ahead....
