OK - so far, what I am seeing is that the Republicans are re-writing 2 major points that Kerry made - that he would put situations to a "global test" - which Bush flat-out admitted that he couldn't comprehend - and that he believes that the Iraq war was a big mistake but that he wants to bring in allies to help us in Iraq.
Somehow, the "global test" concept has been twisted to mean that Kerry will let France make our decisions for us! Bush has literally said this! This is so far-fetched that I'm incredulous that anyone can spout this nonsense with a straight face! Obviously, Kerry was simply saying that it is important to think about how the rest of the world will perceive our actions. That will not be the final determining factor, but it is an important one. I would hope that the American people do not want to be thought of as a country that will run over anyone who disagrees with us without at least considering the implications of our actions in the minds of the rest of the world. We are still part of this world and we do not want every other country to fear and hate us!
The fact that the Iraq war was a colossal mistake made by Bush does not take away from the fact that this mistake needs to be rectified. Kerry plans to bring in allies who will realize that the ramifications of Bush's disaster will affect them if they do not help our new president to contain this mess. This has become a breeding ground for terrorists who will not only attack America, but other countries, as well. Other countries understand this incredible "miscalculation" and I'm sure they will be willing to help someone with a logical, cohesive plan, as Kerry has.
It seems that the biggest problem with Kerry's side of the debate is that he hasn't been able to "dumb-down" his statements to the level that is needed for Bush to comprehend them! Because he can't understand what Kerry is saying, he simply makes up whatever he wants to, regardless of it's relation to the facts! I can't wait for Tuesday when Cheney gets frustrated enough to tell Edwards to "f**k off"!
